The regional government stresses that regeneration works Portman "will definitely real and recovery solution bay" (08/08/2016)

The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Pedro Rivera, said that Portman Bay today took a "decisive step for regeneration" with the signing of the contract between the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment and the joint venture formed between Marco and Ciomar, which "will give real and definitive recovery of the bay solution."

"Regeneration and value of Portman Bay follows, therefore, its unstoppable course," said Rivera, who said that "we will continue working to value their potential and promote its characteristics which place it as a natural area reference of the Mediterranean coast ".

Rivera made the remarks after learning that the contract of works has already been formalized and thus may be initiated in the coming weeks the work that "will allow to return to the area its environmental wealth and to value all its resources as an enclave with tourism potential ".

The project is valued at more than 32.1 million euros.

The Minister of Public Works said that "regional government has worked with commitment and demand in the bay of Portman to end mining pollution that currently covers the bay, as the Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, promised the boss the regional government, Pedro Antonio Sanchez ".

"Portmán will shift to its current situation to become a great display of stunning natural heritage enjoyed by the region," said Minister for Public Works, and said that the best guarantee of recovery is to begin immediately work to return to its original bay "state.

The bill provides the full recovery of the Bay by dredging sterile miners deposited in the bay due to the landfilling activity conducted for years.

The work will allow removing 2 million cubic meters of overburden, which will move to the short mining of San Jose, and therefore recover 250 meters seaward from the shore line current.

For the creation of the new beach material removed from the current sand is reused and limestone crushing shall be provided to improve its grading.
