The vice president and counselor of Women, Equality, LGTBI, Families and Social Policy, Isabel Franco, visited today, together with the mayor of La Unión, Pedro López, the Social Center for the Elderly of La Unión, an installation dependent on the Murciano Institute of Action Social that has an annual grant of 102,000 euros.
The counselor toured the facilities built in 1974 and shared a lunch with users and the board of the center, which transferred the need to improve and renovate areas such as the concierge or the tile roof, and the urgency of expanding the grant to buy chairs , computers and kitchen utensils.
This center currently serves 3,232 users over 60, pensioners from La Unión and other neighboring municipalities, who use the services of the center and participate in the activities it organizes for the promotion of coexistence and social promotion, training in different areas and the promotion of active aging with workshops such as taichí, gerontogimnasia, choir, rondalla, dependence prevention, cultural and leisure activities, etc.
