The Mayor shows his total commitment to the Regeneration of the Bay of Portmán (30/03/2020)

On the date that marks the 30th anniversary of the cessation of the Portmán discharges, the Mayor of La Unión, Pedro López Milán, has expressed his commitment to the neighbors to continue fighting for a viable Regeneration project of the bay and with all the environmental guarantees.

The project dating from 2006, has to be adapted to the needs and modifications that technicians have raised after the passage of time and the new circumstances that have arisen as progress has been made.

With this commitment from both the Government of Spain and the City Council of La Unión, work continues to achieve the desired recovery of our Bay of Portmán.

Thus, fulfilling its commitment to the neighbors and the City Council, the Ministry of Ecological Transition had planned to carry out the Monitoring Commission for March 25, but given the situation we are going through, it has been pending to be carried out in when the alarm state ends.

The Portman Bay environmental regeneration and recovery project will go ahead because it is necessary for our Municipality and our Region, but above all it must be carried out with the maximum guarantees for our neighbors, hence new studies are being carried out that allow progress but guaranteeing above all the well-being and health of the neighbors.

Of course, from La Unión City Hall, we once again remember our total opposition to the macropuerto in Gorguel, since if we want to carry it out, we tell the Regional Government and the Port Authority to find another location far from the Bay. from Portmán.
