PP: The Portman Bay Regeneration Project only needs 15 million to resume (26/09/2020)

The Portmán Bay regeneration project was awarded for 31 million euros in 2015 by the Popular Party government and the work was being carried out with total normality until the socialist government decided to stop it in 2019 and, later, announce its definitive abandonment a few months ago.

However, for the resumption of the works after its paralysis, only 15 million more would be needed, a truly insignificant amount in a State Budget. This is clear from the official reply of the Government of Spain to the question of our senator and local president, Francisco Bernabé, in which they estimate the cost of resuming the works at 48% of the award price, which was 31 million euros , that is, only 15 million more that would help definitively to see the light of a municipality of more than 20,000 inhabitants such as La Unión.From the Popular Party we are outraged to see how we are a region mistreated by the government of Pedro Sanchez.

We see it with the AVE, with the Transfer, with the Mar Menor, with regional financing and of course with the Portman Bay Regeneration project, which after 30 years of the cessation of mining in our land, and being the worst Environmental disaster in the history of the Mediterranean, see how the Executive of Psoe and Podemos continues to look the other way and, in addition, putting on the table such outrageous proposals as the one to confine and abandon the sterile. From the Popular Party we demand that the mayor of La Unión stop putting himself in profile and being docile to his bosses, so that, once and for all, he defends the interests of our neighbors over those of Pedro Sánchez and Diego Conesa , to which it must confront clearly and emphatically so that La Unión does not suffer this indignity.
