On Monday June 14 was held at the Municipal Sports Union, the closing ceremony of the Programme of Sports School Age 2009-2010 with the Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, the City Council of Institutional Relations Juana Sanchez and Councilwoman of Economics, María Dolores Barrett.
During the ceremony, was presented with the trophies of different categories and types of sports, as well as commemorative gifts to all students of different schools participating.
Have taken part in this program, which has developed since September 2009 to June 2010, all schools in La Union, Portman and Roche, both Primary and Secondary, reaching an estimated 600 students.
The sports and categories are established in the 2009/10 School Sport program and cover all popular sports (football, basketball, athletics, volleyball, handball, cross country) and a variant designed for the most sports small.
All sports facilities are differentiated by sex youngest category except where it is mandatory mixed.
Locally, all primary schools have participated in all sports and categories established for these students, and secondary, as well as cross country, has achieved great participation in popular sports like football and basketball.
Intermunicipal level, have been successful in primary and secondary schools participating in the semifinals and finals of different sports like volleyball which highlights the team of Our Lady of Carmen, a regular in the regional finals.
As stated from the Department of Sports, with this program to promote sport at local level have met the goals and expectations set by the invaluable work educators engaged in the various centers of the municipality and districts, which are fully involved in the program and enable to carry out this program.
All matches were played in municipal facilities (Hall and Sports Centre of the Union).
