The new headquarters of social services of The Union will be opened in November (21/09/2010)

The new headquarters of the Department of Social Services City of La Union will be inaugurated next October, after the rehabilitation of the property, for so far the municipal slaughterhouse, have ended after five months of work.

This was confirmed by the mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, after the meeting a few days ago the Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, at which time the terms were agreed for the commissioning of new facilities .

Starting in November, therefore, workers of the City Social Services shall work in these units over 400 m2, which is also a space reserved for the future establishment of CAVI, designed to assist victims of gender violence and in the family.

The project in recent months involved the complete rehabilitation of the building, with new walls and floors, as well as improving existing facilities and staffing to building new facilities commensurate with its new use as the headquarters of the Services Social.

Likewise, action has included the addition of an elevator to comply with accessibility standards and ensure full integration of persons with disabilities.

The total project investment of 302,000 euros has been and is funded by the Autonomous Region through the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration (50%) and the Ministry of Public Works (50%).

Moreover, the mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, has also announced the opening in the municipality, from January 2011, the new Center for Child Care (ISC) and the Day Care Center (EDC).

The new CAI, located on the plaza Councilman José Torrente, in the neighborhood of the Garbanzal, stands on a plot of 5,000 square meters of municipal property, and replace the found in the district of Santa Barbara.

Construction, with a budget of 950,000 euros, will the commissioning of 188 places for children under three years, and the use of four professionals and ten graduate Teaching in Early Childhood Education and a psychologist and an educator.

For his part, Day Care Center (CED) of La Union is located between the streets and Del Pozo Del Salto, an area of over 330 square meters.

The center will provide health and social care to forty older people affected by different degrees of dependence.

The total project cost is 883,916 euros, of which the regional government through the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration provides a total of 662,937 euros.
