The eco-park of La Union operates at full capacity in waste management (12/01/2011)

The eco-park of La Union is now operating at full capacity in the collection of waste house of origin, and are increasingly neighbors who come to these facilities to leave batteries, oils, appliances, x-rays, and other materials do not serve for subsequent environmental management.

This "clean point" of the town, built by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Murcia on a surface of 1,685 square meters in the area of Los Cobacho, near San Gil Street, benefits from several months to more than 16,000 inhabitants The Union, one of the 39 facilities that comprise the Regional Network of Ecoparks.

With an investment of 192,700 euros financed by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union, the eco-park of La Union is used to store waste that either by volume or hazardous nature, encroach on the municipal waste management in case of putting it into containers for the collection of municipal solid waste.

For it has an access control booth, a booth for special waste, an area of bulk containers for plastic, metal, cooking oil, oil filters and car batteries, appliances, cardboard, glass containers and soon, furniture, and a covered area.

All these wastes are temporarily stored for later transport to sorting plants, where they separate, recover and recycle the materials after reuse, while non-recyclable fractions carried landfill.

The eco-park can be used by individuals, businesses, offices and services whose production of waste, by its nature or composition, is similar to those produced in private homes, although not supported by waste from industrial activities.

In addition to the interim management of waste, this "clean point" has an Environmental Education Workshop where you can organize presentations and courses dedicated to promote, in general, urban waste collection and in particular the use of such facilities.

In this line, the City of La Union prepares the launch of an intensive informational and environmental education among schools in the municipality, through coordinated actions with the different courses and levels that will be defined in the eco-park visits scheduled to attend various workshops and courses.

Ecopark schedule of The Union for the deposit of waste or any other inquiries are Monday through Saturday, between 9.00 and 15.00.
