The Union is committed to tourism for its economic recovery (09/02/2011)

With an eye on the imminent Monitoring Committee which meets tomorrow to address the regeneration of Portman, and the enormous expectations that European Union environmental and economic rebirth of their parish, tourism re-erected in the hope of a municipality that seeks to drastically reduce its unemployment rate to overcome the current crisis.

Tourism as the main engine and initiatives at the supra-municipal are some lines that will mark the path of change in the economic and business center of Union, or so it appears from the first meeting to just keep the newly Local Tourism Bureau established and Trade.

This is an area where consensus has been put on the table a series of reflections and proposals on the local socio-economic situation in order to establish a 'roadmap' to mark the city's economic resurgence over the next decade.

The event, chaired by the mayor of La Unión, Bernabe Francisco, attended by representatives of local groups (PSOE, PP and IU) of UGT and CCOO trade unions and the Federation of Business and Professional Associations La Union (FAEPU) Welcomes Murcia, Minera Sierra Foundation, the Local Development Agency, and the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena.

During the meeting, has stressed the commitment to tourism as one of the most viable growth and development of the economy, employment and preserving local history and culture, thanks to the Miner Park, the Festival of Cante de las Mines and initiatives such as the Mineral and Fossil Fair, the newly established School of Art and the Museum of Flamenco Holy Week.

It has also placed great emphasis on proper coordination between the different municipalities of the region through initiatives supra-municipal level would serve to jointly develop tourist resources and industrial.

On the other hand, participants considered essential to encourage the promotion of local products and local hotels, so it has made some proposals such as creating a guide to the major restaurants in the town, which was completed with the presentation of products native-as well as holding various food festivals, like the one being held in the month of April for the Easter Minera.

Finally, the Local Board of Tourism and Commerce has commissioned a technical report to the Tourist Office of La Union on the various parameters that affect this sector in the municipality, and has called on all members to a future meeting to continue working on reviving the economy and local employment.
