Pitingo opens this Friday the first of the Flemish Festival galas del Cante de las Minas (04/08/2011)

The singer Antonio Álvarez Vélez, Pitingo, returns this Friday at The Union, seven years after winning the prize of the Festival Singers International Novice Cante de las Minas, and now become a star in the flamenco-soul.

Pitingo give a recital divided into two parts, the first predominantly Flemish mark of respect to this contest, which was a major boost in his career, opening the door to other scenarios of our country.

The second part will discover the latest style of the artist.

The singer from Huelva, which stepped on the stage of La Union last June during the Gala Solidaria by Lorca, will open the trappings of the 51st edition of the most important flamenco festival in the country.

Act on successive days Estrella Morente, Farruquito, Tomatito, Blanca del Rey and Diego el Cigala.

Pitingo, born in Ayamonte (Huelva) in 1980, is the grandson and nephew of singers.

Although flamenco has always been, never wanted to give up his other great passions, black music, masterfully blending original and attractive way, with soulful flamenco.

It has been raised listening to classical flamenco, Chacón, Vallejo, Marchena, Caracol, Thomas Shepherd, Mojama, Shrimp, Morente ... And it has fed the gospel, and, in particular, soul, and its great masters Aretha Franklin , Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder.

The Festival also celebrates a day of tribute to singer Enrique Morente Granada, who died in December 2010.

This Friday is also the Day Tribute to Enrique Morente, who put his name to a park in the city of La Union.

In addition, at midnight is scheduled screening of the film "Morente," film director Emilio Barrachina, in the Hall of the City of La Union.

The cultural festival is complete, at 20h. With the presentation of an excerpt of the documentary "Enrique Morente: looking eyes," the filmmaker Onesimus Hernandez.

It is a joint project of the Festival and Onesimus Hernandez, director of the film, with the homage that the Cante de las Minas in 2004 surrendered to Morente.

The premiere took place at the Cathedral of Cante, the same night that served the teacher and a portion of it will see the light on the occasion of a posthumous tribute to the Festival this year the singer makes Granada.

People like Miguel Poveda, Carmen Linares, Arcángel, Mario Maya, Jose Manuel Gamboa, Jean Carlos Manrique and Diego discover the figure of the singer from Granada in this documentary that also has the figure of Morente interacting with the Sierra Minera de La Unión.
