The Festival del Cante de las Minas honors Japan Tsunami March (05/08/2011)

The cultural agenda of Thursday the 51st International Festival of Cante de las Minas, paid tribute to victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami of last March in Japan.

The country Japan is closely related to Flemish art, not surprisingly, is the second country in the world, behind Spain's flamenco number of academies, more than six hundred students of the same, more than eighty thousand.

Last year, the Festival del Cante de las Minas awarded the Cathedral of Cante Japan.

This recognition is awarded to those countries that carry out the preservation, promotion and dissemination of culture and art of flamenco.

Such is the passion of Japanese art by this "natural disaster experienced in March will not prevent the Japanese feel like his music and flamenco culture," as declared by the cultural attaché of the Embassy of Japan in Spain, Kenji Maehigashi , who finished transmitting a few words of Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan "In adversity you know the true friends will never forget those who helped us in these difficult times"

Maehigashi received from the mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé this tribute, because "these events shook us all and made us realize that we had to act urgently."

The mayor expressed his solidarity with the reconstruction of Japan.

Tribute to Japan before, the festival director, Julio García Cegarra, presented the 2011 edition in digital format, the magazine "Mining Lamp", whose director, Francisco Celdran (Paco Icarus), justified this format digital only "in this years of perverse economic crisis "but acknowledged that" some trees will thank you. "

To Icarus, the content of "Mining Lamp" is what matters, true to its principles of alternating plurals scholarship with literary creation flamenco pure and simple, the trial and to innovation in design, it offers readers " bits and glimpses of this light is our universal multicolored flamenco festival, located on extravagance of gods, mythical geography and delusional.
