The Community and the City of Union created a commission to monitor the economic development of Bay Portman (31/08/2011)

The Autonomous Region and the Municipality of La Union agreed today to create an interdisciplinary working committee for planning and monitoring of the economic development of Bay Portman, linked to its environmental regeneration.

This working group will bring together CEOs of the various ministries involved and the Consistory in order to streamline all the paperwork to make this strategic project for the Region of Murcia as an example of excellent tourist infrastructure.

The directors of Finance, Salvador Marín, Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, Public Works and Planning, Antonio Sevilla, agreed to create this tool for planning, promotion and coordination in their meeting with the mayor of The Union, Francisco Bernabé, and placing tourism project as one of the levers of economic development and job creation to boost the productive fabric of the region.

The Office for Coordination and Follow-up of Strategic Projects in the Autonomous Community will be responsible for convening several meetings to develop the timing of this action and facilitate the fulfillment of the terms and objectives, bringing together experts to expedite his execution.

These working groups will be responsible for reviewing, coordinating and seeking solutions in the administrative formalities for the execution, among others, a marina and fishing and hotel facilities, maintain and improve the areas protected for their environmental value, cultural or mining which will contribute to add value to the development of tourism excellence.

Also establish the model of public-private partnership for promoting this initiative, described as a strategic project in the Executive Committee of Economy of the regional government.

It is expected that the work of regeneration Bay commence before the end of this year and lasts three years.

The goal is to simultaneously perform regeneration planning milestones in the area for the implementation of marina and tourism development.

The DGs are involved in this are the technical committee of Tourism, Planning and Housing, Transport and Ports, Environment, Industry, Energy and Mines and the Office for Coordination and Follow-up of Strategic Projects.
