Rosa Aguilar, Minister of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, was received yesterday by our Mayor Portman, Francisco Bernabé, in order to confirm various aspects of the regeneration of the Bay.
In this regard, the Minister announced that the preparatory phase of work, involving the adequacy of the Cut San Jose to locate in the same tailings, and budgeted at about 800,000 euros, will begin next week.
Also noted that the important part of the Regeneration, budgeted at 80 million euros, will begin next spring.
He pointed out that the notice had been sent yesterday to the Gazette and from its publication would be opened within 52 days for interested companies to submit their bids.
The meeting was attended by the National Government, the Director General of Sustainability and the Sea Coast, Pedro Antonio Ríos, the Government Delegate, Rafael Gonzalez, and the Chief of the Coasts, Francisca Baraza, by Autonomous Community of Murcia, the Director General for Transport and Ports, José María Bernabé, and the Director of Planning and Housing, Yolanda Muñoz, and by the municipality of La Union, a broad representation of local corporation.
Our mayor has expressed his delight at the positive developments that are showing the events, because after so much struggle he finally sees the light at the end of the tunnel.
Thus, added that Portman Regeneration means that there is life, hope and future for our town, because the subsequent tourism development will involve the creation of 2,000 direct jobs and many more indirectly.
