Adopted environmental impact statement for the new marina Portman (18/11/2011)

The favorable environmental impact statement for the construction of the new marina and fishing port of Portman Bay has been approved and signed by the Directorate General Environment of the Autonomous Region of Murcia.

This has been the biggest news has been released after their meeting this morning in Murcia of the Monitoring Committee of the Regional Strategic Project Portman Bay, made by the Government of the Autonomous Community, through six Directorates-General different and the municipalities of La Union and Cartagena.

Also during the meeting have been pooling all matters concerning environmental protection, cultural and shall provide for the future mining land use is established in order to promote sustainable tourism development and high quality for the area.

The new Portman Marina berths will have about 700 and includes the recovery of the old fishing pier to locate in the same traditional fishing boats, the rest of new pontoons for sailing sports.

Our Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, expressed the great joy of our town by this breakthrough in the project and reported that the Commission has agreed to meet again early next year to ensure further progress on issues relating to the new organization territorial environment.
