The Union perfected his system of sewage disposal with tertiary treatment (14/02/2012)

The Region of Murcia purified to 98 percent the pollution load of wastewater

The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, and the mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, today put up the system of tertiary sewage treatment, which will retrieve more than one cubic hectometer per year of water quality for agriculture .

The owner of Agriculture and Water said that this facility will move to a higher level than required by the European Union for the treatment of water and "have all the guarantees for reuse" because, he said, the water you get "is a water level prepotable assimilable ".

The Region of Murcia purified to 98 percent the pollution load of waste water, "a figure well above 75 percent under Community law," remarked the owner of Agriculture.

The new line of treatment of sewage from The Union comprises mixing chamber and flocculation, sedimentation lamellar, sand filtration and ultraviolet disinfection.

The works, which have had an investment of 1.5 million, have funding from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union by 80 percent.

Cerda said the "effort" being made by the Region of Murcia to provide water quantity and quality.

The Community has completed the most important part of the General Plan drainage and water treatment with the construction of large water treatment plants, which have been added tertiary treatment "allow us to recover a large portion of wastewater for irrigation."

This plan, Cerda said, "has more than covered the targets set since its launch."
