Both the Secretary General PSRM-PSOE, Rafael González Tovar, as the Secretary General of the Socialist Group in La Union, Mariano Oliver, described the meeting as "very positive and hard work."
Both addresses progress in developing a Strategic Plan for the municipality of La Union, and set lines of action in relation to the major issues affecting the city, such as unemployment, economic insecurity is increasingly affecting a greater number of families in the town, the regeneration of Portman Bay and the controversial project to build a container terminal in El Gorguel.
Tovar Gonzalez encouraged the Socialist Group to continue to "work with the citizens of closeness, which in these difficult times they must see that the socialists we care about your problems and we are able to present valid alternatives to solve them."
González Tovar was accompanied on his visit by Secretary of Organization PSRM-PSOE, Presentation Lopez, and the Secretary of Foreign Trade Unions PSRM-PSOE José Francisco Navarro.
After the meeting, Mariano Oliver, Secretary General of the Socialist Group of the European Union, said that "the actions and initiatives we are undertaking to try to alleviate the problems faced by our neighbors, in a municipality where the unemployment rate exceeds 40%, require an approach that exceeds the municipal level, and therefore, for us it is a pleasure working with the commitment of these initiatives expressed by the Regional Executive.
