The 53rd International Festival del Cante de las Minas is dedicated to singer Miguel Poveda (11/02/2013)

The registration deadline for the call for tenders and Cultural Festival opens next February 15

The 53rd edition of the Festival del Cante de las Minas, which takes place from 1 to 10 August, will be dedicated to singer Miguel Poveda and crier will of the journalist and poet Antonio Lucas, as the poster and the artist Eduardo Arroyo, according announced today by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, with the mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, during the presentation of the festival.

At this event, also were announced enrollment deadlines for convening of cultural and festival competitions this year marks the twentieth anniversary of the victory of Miguel Poveda in La Union, in 1993.

Since then, Poveda has developed a brilliant career in which he always carried gala advocacy of La Union, the Festival and singing.

The poster for this 53rd edition of the festival is held the painter Eduardo Arroyo, which Cruz said is "critical figuration emblem".

Winner of National Art and National Graphic Arts Award, Arroyo joins names like de Tapies, Chillida, Canogar, Barceló, Saura, Valdés, Chirino, Gordillo, Lucas and many others, who have made poster festival.

In this regard, the Minister of Culture and Tourism said: "The signage is now reviewing the best contemporary Spanish art history."

On the other hand, the preacher of this year will be the poet and journalist Antonio Lucas, writer and editor of El Mundo culture, "also known and admired for his extraordinary poetry," which has earned him win the awards of major poetry competitions in Spain, as the Critical Eye Award of National Radio of Spain, the International Prize Melilla or Adonais Prize, among others.

Cruz said that "there are two personalities that will give even more luster to the festival."

The February 15 opening the period for registration to participate in the contest of song, guitar, flamenco dancing and instrumentalist organizes the event.

The deadlines will be open until April 30 for those artists who wish to fight to win the Mining Lamp, the beading, the rudeness or Philo, respectively.

Also opens the deadline for the prizes Pencho Cros, in the fourteenth edition of the International Cultural Event Call, and distinguish the best works made over the past year in connection with flamenco, in the fields of poetry, prose, journalism, art, discography, research and gastronomy.
