The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union has declared 2013 the "European Year of Citizens", in order to strengthen the awareness of citizens about the rights and responsibilities associated with citizenship of the Union.
Therefore, the Directorate General of the European Union and Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of the Presidency has organized the "I, European Citizen" in collaboration with Europe Direct office Murcia region was presented this morning in the city for our Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, and the Director General of the European Union and External Relations, Carmen Sandoval.
The campaign will develop next week in the four schools in the county that offer secondary education through lectures by experts in the field, in order that our young people have the best possible information about the direct impact of the decisions that are adopted in the European Union over our lives.
The materials will focus on European citizenship, digital information sources on employment and training, network reach "Europe Direct", the safe use of information technology and Internet communication, and climate change.
In addition, a mobile classroom will move to the Union on Tuesday and Friday of next week, settling in front of the House of the pinion, with the aim that all groups and individuals interested in the municipality may have also access to all this information.
Francisco Bernabé has highlighted the great importance involving the European Union membership, not only at the level of citizens' rights, but also in the context of investments, since in recent years a total of 9 million euros from Europe have served to co-finance many of the improvements that have been developed in the municipality.
