Inauguration of the new Museum of La Union Mining Pinion House (30/07/2013)

The President of the Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, and the Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, inaugurated this morning the new premises of La Union Mining Museum, which have been located on the first floor of the House of Pinion.

A spectacular musealization, with significant deployment of media, and in which he particularly impressive collection of minerals from the Sierra and elsewhere, are certainly the key figures of the new museum installation.

In addition, several rooms devoted to the explanation of the modes of life and work of former miners, some unique machined models that reproduce the process of mining and the original cast of the Monument to the Miner, all wrapped under a very successful setting, make this place a magical and a must for all who want to come to know the history of the Union and its Sierra Minera.

The relocation of the collections from the Lyceum of Workers due to the foresight of the early tender for the works that will allow to transform the building into a spectacular resort that will host at the time, in addition to the museum, a research center of mining, a hall auditorium and an exhibition hall.

The work of this new infrastructure, which is expected to begin in 2014, will get at least a period of two years, which is why it was essential that the equip all along the Mining Museum, one of the major tourist attractions of the town, the best location possible.

Thus, the monumental Pinion House, declared of Cultural Interest (BIC), hosts and, in addition to the municipal, no less than three museums: the Mining Museum, the Museo del Cante de las Minas and Art Collection Contemporary and Decimonónico courtesy of the region and which can be seen in the three floors of the building, which certainly makes the Town Hall of La Union in a unique nationwide.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, the Director General of Fine Arts, Francisco Gimenez, and Councillors of the government team.

The Mayor has directed that, from today until August 14, the Mining Museum performed two weeks open to the public, in order that all who want to know they can enjoy their dependencies so free.
