The Hall of Pinion House was the setting in which today has developed the first Regional Training Session on Truancy, organized by the Ministry of Education of the Autonomous Community and the City of La Union.
The activity was attended by about a hundred professionals who came from the different municipalities of the Region of Murcia, who have shown their satisfaction with the high level exhibited by the participants in it.
The Union has been the chosen location for this initiative since it has become a reference in the municipality work against this problem, thanks to the close collaboration between the municipal officers and the heads of all local schools.
In this sense, the right to education and a standardized education of all children in the compulsory stages of education is an essential factor for progress and development of citizenship and society in general.
Hence, this right is collected in the Spanish Constitution in its Article 27, indicating that basic education is compulsory and free.
However, the reality is that some students show irregular attendance to schools, which often leads to situations of truancy or early school leaving, without having acquired the necessary training for joining the workforce.
This can lead to integration problems in childhood and adolescence.
Thus the prevention and eradication of absenteeism and dropout acquires great relevance between the priorities of different administrations, so interdisciplinary training activities, such as the present one, favor the development of actions aimed at the prevention, control and monitoring truancy.
The conference was opened by our Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, and the Director General of Educational Quality of the Autonomous Community, Begońa Iniesta, after which intervened in various presentations and roundtables outstanding professionals.
