Start the IV university congress flamenco dancing chair flamencology (22/07/2014)

Yesterday afternoon, the fourth edition of the University Congress of Flamenco and Spanish Dance, to be held in Murcia until Friday, July 25, in the official program of the International Flamencology the Cante Foundation Mine was opened and the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM).

At the opening ceremony the Director of the International Festival del Cante de las Minas and Deputy Mayor of Culture of La Union, Julio García Cegarra, the Dean of the Faculty of Sport of the UCAM, Antonio Sanchez Pato and director were present Congress, the dancer and choreographer Marcos Flores, National Award for Flamenco dancing.

The Director of the Festival del Cante de las Minas, Julio Garcia, recalled that, although it is the fourth edition of Dance Congress, this year is the first to be organized within the Flamencology, giving to studies university endorsement of the UCAM and prestige of the Foundation Cante de las Minas.

Julio Garcia, unionense Festival again demonstrates his teaching vocation with this Congress, in which the leading specialists in the field will form our future flamenco dancers.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Sport of the UCAM, Antonio Sanchez Pato, stressed that Congress Flamenco Dance is part of the Curriculum of undergraduate and graduate of the Catholic University, which also has a Master in Dance and Performing Arts.

This is one of the reasons why it is so interesting the Congress in its facilities.

Another reason to unconditionally support the Congress Dance is the firm commitment of the UCAM by culture, which has two clear examples in the implementation of Flamencology, in collaboration with the Fundación del Cante de las Minas, and in direct collaboration with this project UCAM Symphony Orchestra, which will perform at the Festival del Cante de las Minas on August 12 accompanying Estrella Morente.

We also note that the dancer and choreographer Marcos Flores, National Flamenco Award, will be responsible for delivering dance classes during these five days.

Marcos Flores expressed his pride in the fact that Flamencology have thought him to lead the Congress, as it considers very important part of this project from the field of teaching.

The artist has said it will try to bring students to dance "Taranto", to understand the essence of this post, and also teach them the tools they use when choreographing a show.

It will aim, says Marcos Flores, motivate them to let out his role as young artists.

Dance activities held in the morning, with practical workshops on choreography and technique of flamenco dancing by Taranto, and afternoon lectures, visits and panel discussions on current issues in the world of Spanish dance.

The course features collaboration with the Conservatory of Dance in Murcia.
