The Civil Guard seize Portman red tuna illegally caught 158 ​​kilos (06/08/2014)

The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia, in one of the services framed in the 'Plan against illegal catches of bluefin tuna', has surprised Marina Portman-Cartagena two fishermen with a specimen of the species of 158 kilos unlawfully captured encontrase in closed season.

Specialist Maritime Service of the Civil Guard, while conducting one of the monitoring aimed at preventing this type of catch, found that a vessel was carrying one bluefin tuna pretending to be landed in Marina Portman-Cartagena.

Maritime Service agents were coordinated with prevention patrol public safety to carry out the seizure of the specimen, as it is a protected and whose capture is governed by established periods and are currently enabled period of closure species.

Fruit of the established device, the Meritorious intercepted at Portman Marina boat, which was occupied by two people, and seized illegally caught tuna, which yielded a total weight of 158 kilograms.

The specimen was made available to the medical services of the Directorate General of Livestock and Fisheries of the Autonomous Community, after being declared fit for consumption, has been distributed to various charitable institutions of Cartagena.

Before the Civil Guard irregularities denounced the alleged offenders, two neighbors of the town of Portman, for violations of the Law 2/2007, of 12 March, Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture Murcia and Law 3/2001 State Maritime Fisheries.
