A total of 13 companies have submitted bids to tender for the award of the project of regeneration and environmental soundness of Portman Bay in the Union, whose contract notice was published in the Official State Bulletin (BOE) last day July 23, for an amount of 59.5 million euros and an execution period of 46 months.

Regeneration

The regeneration project and environmental soundness of Portman Bay aims to restore about 250 meters seaward from the coastline, since its location was altered by the landfilling activity.

At present, the waterfront is situated 550 meters from the original and has a depth of about four meters.

It also includes the removal of about two million cubic meters of overburden, which will move to the short miner San Jose, the regeneration of the new beach reusing materials present and the contribution of crushed limestone sand to improve its granulometry.
