Development is pleased to award the next project to regenerate Portman Bay (08/11/2015)

The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Francisco Barnabas showed today welcomed the forthcoming award of the regeneration project and environmental soundness of Portman Bay in La Union, explained this weekend the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment Isabel García Tejerina.

This project will have a budget of tender 59.5 million euros and an execution period of 46 months.

Within this process, the jury held soon a proposal for awarding the project to the company whose tender has obtained the highest overall score, after evaluating together the documentation containing the technical and economic offers.

The latter offers were opened this week, to meet the requirements of the specifications, to meet the needs of the Administration and be economically advantageous.

The 13 companies that have raised their offers to the regeneration of Portman Bay are the UTE Comsa-Routes-Drace, Marco-Ciomar, Acciona-Sato-Continental, Aldesa, Dragados, Ferrovial, Corsan-Sarco, Ocide-Assignia, San José-CHM, Arenas Azvi-South Sacyr and FCC-FCC Ambito Copasa-Cyopsa-Alpi.

The contract award is developed by open procedure and several criteria are taken into account.

Among them, the presentation aimed at reducing the amount of construction waste environmental improvements will be assessed.

Bernabe said that "every time is closer to the desired allocation of regeneration works Portman Bay, a project that is the result of close collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment and the region".

Regeneration

With this project, he said the counselor, "Bay will undergo a radical change, which not only will regenerate and recover environmentally, but also allow return to its original appearance".

To do this, the recovery will be undertaken about 250 meters seaward from the coastline, which was altered by the activity of discharge and placed 550 meters from the original and has a depth of about four meters.

Among the most significant aspects of the project include the withdrawal of some two million cubic meters of waste, to be deposited in the short mining of San Jose, the regeneration of the new beach reusing materials present and the contribution of sand limestone crushing to improve its grain.
