The Minister of Works, Housing and Transport, José Ballesta, visited today in The Union works to regenerate the district of San Gil, where they are completing the refurbishment of 12 houses and where he announced the forthcoming signing of a new agreement collaboration between the Autonomous Community, the City Council and the Fundación Sierra Minera for implementing the second phase of the project, budgeted at 1.5 million euros, and then the same with the regeneration of another 48 homes.

The action is being performed on a group of social housing built in 1980 by the then National Housing Institute within the national program to eradicate slums.
The complete set consists of 152 housing units in a 4 3 heights around a large interior space.
The urban development project undertaken by the Housing and Land Institute provides for the demolition of the ruined items, sanitation facilities and recovery spaces, group homes and their environment.
The total project is budgeted at 3 million euros, of which we have already invested EUR 891,641 in the first phase (with proceedings for the eviction of furniture, cleaning, disinfecting and cloisonné, demolition, repair and rehabilitation of premises, as well as the 12 homes whose works are nearing completion) and for the second stage and 1,499,975 euros have been budgeted to rehabilitate another 48 dwellings.
The second phase project includes the demolition of the elements that remain in the original building in ruins, sanitation facilities and the restructuring of space and housing allocations.
The award itself will be by auction.
The social and physical conditions found in this group of houses are necessary to design a framework together with all concerned authorities for urban and social transformation of the Barrio de San Gil, based on the comprehensive development program in which Foundation has been working the Sierra Minera, a global action plan that meets the diverse needs of the neighborhood and the city and has the participation and involvement of people in improving their quality of life.
Thus, the Fundación Sierra Minera, which has been assigned premises in the same blocks that are being rehabilitated, the district is making in a social rehabilitation work with families in various areas: children, women and family , community and youth.
Are programs to develop the educational processes of children, youth and adults to promote the employability of unemployed youth, to involve the population in the rehabilitation and maintenance of housing, to promote alternative leisure time occupation, and improve health conditions of the population.
12 new homes
The 12 homes visited today the Minister, accompanied by the mayor of La Union, Francisco Martín, and the managing director of the Institute of Housing and Lands, Jane Brown, under the first phase of the regeneration project and will be completed next month September, so "soon, your tenants will enjoy," said Ballesta.
The Minister of Works, Housing and Transport also referred to the budget for rehabilitation of housing stock, which reached 2 million, one of the measures incorporated in the Promotion Plan of the Region of Murcia, developed by the Government regional.
