More than a million euros for urban regeneration in the district of San Gil de La Union (28/11/2008)

The regional government has approved an agreement between the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Institute for Housing and Land in the Region (IVS), the municipality of La Union and the Sierra Minera Foundation for urban regeneration and development social area of San Gil unionense municipality with a budget of 1,018,464 euros.

This project will undertake the second phase of regeneration of the district, with the refurbishment of 48 houses of public and social premises.

The improvements involve the demolition of original building elements that are in disrepair, and the renewal of facilities and the reorganization of space.

To achieve the project has designed a framework together with the municipality of La Union and the Fundación Sierra Minera, supported by comprehensive development program in the area, in which the Foundation has been working since 2000, and municipal social services.

The global action plan aims to improve the livability of the homes in the neighborhood and the restructuring of urban design.

In addition, the Housing and Land Institute is committed to the assignment of a local Sierra Minera Foundation for the maintenance of social work.

All these actions will serve to meet the educational, social and labor of the people, facilitating their integration and social advancement through a proper system of facilities and services.

Through this agreement, the IVS continues the work developed since 2004 in the 152 social housing units built in 1980 by the National Housing Institute in La Union, after a first phase of the comprehensive regeneration comprising 12 houses and where they have so far invested 560,340 euros.
