21 immigrants intercepted in boats carrying Algerians (19/05/2009)

A total of twenty persons of Algerian origin, which arrived last night to Spain on board two boats have been intercepted by the agents who were part of the system introduced by the Civil Guard after this body detected a possible attempt illegal entry immigrants in the country.

The aforementioned device, which includes a vessel of the Maritime Service and several patrol cars of that body, got a result that, on the 23'50 pm yesterday, the Integrated External Surveillance (SIVE) detect the presence, about five miles from the coast and towards the area of Portman - The Gorguel, a suspect vessel.

The above vessel, about 4.5 meters long and equipped with 25 hp motor, was stopped when he reached the beach Portman.

The nine people aboard were intercepted, including six by the Guardia Civil and three by the Local Police in La Union.

On the other hand, coastal monitoring devices set by the Civil Guard allowed location, around 6'00 pm today, a second small boat, which was intercepted as it traveled between the lighthouse and Mt Portman Ashes.

It was a vessel of 5 meters long, made of fiberglass and equipped with a small 6 hp engine.

On the vessel were a dozen people, which were forwarded to the port of Cartagena in the Maritime Service patrol of that body.

The twenty migrants intercepted were male and were in apparent good health.

They are all adults, except one who was traveling in the second vessel, and it has been available to the National Police, who will instruct the appropriate files back to their country of origin for illegal entry into Spain to the elderly .
