The union culmination of the selection tests of the competitions with more participation of the history of the festival (16/07/2009)

The International Festival of Cante de las Minas held, between Friday 17 and Saturday 18, the last two selection tests which will determine the semifinalists of the singing contest, dance and guitar in the XLIX unionense year's competition.

The performances will take place in the neighborhood of El unionense Garbanzal (Plaza del Cura Ginés) after 22 hours.

Selective tests Festival reaches its final stretch after two months of relentless pursuit of new values of flamenco creditors to be made to win the most prestigious awards of flamenco, the Mining Lamp, The Mining and Bordon Desplante, which this year will join the reef, the new Competition First Prize Instrumentalist.

In this edition of the Festival has reached a record of fourteen tests, registering 127 enrolled in them, representing a 20% increase over last year.

These figures confirm the excellent health of the competitions, the true seed of mining event.

The headquarters of the selection tests have been Barcelona, Madrid, Salamanca, Granada, Valladolid, Murcia, Valencia, Albacete, Cáceres and La Union.

In total 80 have been enrolled for the singing contest, while for Guitar and Dance Competitions have gathered artists 25 and 22 respectively.

Interestingly enough, and shows the international character of the Festival, we must highlight the participation of two groups of dance in Japan and France.

AMOUNT OF AWARDS OF SINGING, DANCING AND GUITAR

The winners of the awards Sing, dance and guitar in addition to the incalculable prestige granted by these awards, major financial amounts are distributed.

Specifically, the Song Contest awarded 63,500 euros in prize money, divided into the following categories.

Mining songs.

First Prize - Trophy Mining Lamp, the highest honor of the Festival.

Manufacturers of Malaga, Granada, Cordoba and Huelva.

Bajoandaluces songs.

Young singers.

The dance and guitar awards, meanwhile, distributed 10,000 and 16,000 euros respectively.

In total, the Festival distributed among the singing contest, guitar, dance and flamenco instruments, 100,000 euros in prize money.

I INSTRUMENTALISTS CONTEST

This edition of the International Festival of Cante de las Minas records the important novelty of the introduction of a new Grand Prix.

I is the Instrumentalist Competition, which is called The Reef.

Note the significant turnout, since in this first 24 artists have registered.

In the words of the Mayor of La Union and Chairman of the Festival, Francisco Bernabé, this new competition reaffirms "the innovative and pioneering an event that is aware of the times, and returns to make a difference."

Belong in this competition all kinds of instrumental specialties: melodic instruments or monódicos (violin, flute, saxophone, etc.). Polyphonic instruments (piano, keyboards, etc..) Percussion (box drum, drums, castanets, sticks, etc. .) both acoustic and electronic sounds (guitar and electric bass, synths, etc..), with the exception of the flamenco guitar that already has its own call.

Also included are new artists working with art systems (experimental music, electronics, etc.).

The Instrumentalist Contest winner I will stand with the prize "The Reef" which is endowed with 7,000 euros.

The second prize € 3,500 award.
