Valcárcel Minister Espinosa require the regeneration of Portman (27/07/2009)

The Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, and the President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, have held a working meeting in which they dealt with various matters of interest to the municipality.

The Regional Chairman has informed the Mayor that in the first days of September, prior to a meeting of the Monitoring Committee, will meet with the Minister of Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs, Elena Espinosa, demanding that he leave to tender the works and, thus, starts the regeneration of the Portman Bay.

The Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, thanked the President autonomy "of the particular sensitivity and commitment shown by Ramon Luis Valcarcel with major projects in future Union."

Moreover, the Mayor has informed the President of the imminent establishment of the Foundation of the International Festival del Cante de las Minas, which will be the same as President Ramon Luis Valcarcel.

The Foundation will be owned by the municipality of La Union, the regional government and the Ministry of Culture.

Among the key activities of the Foundation include the management of the Festival del Cante de las Minas, scholarships, research projects and awards and the creation of a museum and cultural center and research and Flemish art school, and the International Congress of Miners Cantes.

It will also conduct activities to promote the new values of singing, dancing and flamenco guitar born in the region.
