Coordination against influenza A (18/09/2009)

In the morning, was held at the headquarters of the municipality a working meeting between the Mayor, Francisco Barnabas Health Councilman, Antonio Liard, and the Coordinator of the Health Center of La Union, Juan Francisco Arenas.

The main purpose of the meeting was to establish a basic protocol of action and coordination between health services of the Union, employees of the Ministry of Health of the Autonomous Community of Murcia and our City Council in order to prevent the spread, or where appropriate to mitigate the effects of influenza virus A.

The Coordinator of the Health Center has sought to convey a message of reassurance, indicating that the virus, yet easy to spread, is not especially virulent, the consequences are significantly lower than those of the flu.

In this sense, the basic recommendations for citizens are:

Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water.

By repeating this throughout the day, you can avoid a lot of infections, especially if we add the touching the nose, eyes or mouth.

Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing.

Stay home when sick to prevent spreading it to co-workers or school.

For people who are already infected by the virus, in order to avoid infection, we recommend:

Wear a mask during the illness.

Staying at home to avoid spreading.

Greetings to avoid physical contact (kissing, hugging, shaking hands ...).

Use tissues to cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

These scarves will be thrown into containers or ziplock bags, to avoid spreading the virus through the air.

Wash hands with soap and water at least 10-15 seconds and rinse with plenty of water after coughing / sneezing or having touched the mouth or eyes, if they are dirty, after using the toilet and before meals.

Use a brush to thoroughly clean fingers and nails.

All objects that touch the patient should also be washed at least once a day with a mild detergent followed by disinfection with standard agents such as bleach diluted in water or ethyl alcohol.

The sick room should be separate from the residence of other members of the house.

Must be vented to the open window several times a day.

Family members who attend the patient must follow strict respiratory hygiene measures to prevent transmission.

Mask should be used.

The primary caregiver should wear gloves for single use before any contact with the patient.

In general, a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, vegetables and dairy adequate rest at night, the daily practice of exercise and smoking cessation are basic steps to good health and good immune system infections.
