Today, Friday, December 4th, we celebrate the feast of St. Barbara, patron saint of mining, along which start the events planned by the City Council to celebrate Christmas.
To this end, this morning was held in the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary mining Mass in honor of St. Barbara, which has been followed by a wreath made by our Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, at the monument to mining and the firing of a large fireworks, in remembrance of the use of holes for our ex-miners.
Subsequently, organized by the Knights of Santa Barbara, has been a lecture on the beginnings of the mining industry, given by Professor of the University of Murcia, Miguel Ángel López Morell, in the hall of the House of pinion.
On the other hand, start today also Christmas events that are planned for all to enjoy the holiday season in La Union, in particular, from 18:00 hours open crafts workshops for children at the Plaza Joaquín Costa, while at 19:00 will come to power lighting and the opening of the Christmas Craft Market III.
