The works of semipeatonalización the village of La Union will conclude next month (04/02/2010)

The Minister of Presidency and Public Administration and the mayor of La Union oversee the development of both actions

Semipeatonalización works of the village of La Union and tasks of preparation of the new headquarters of the local police in the Progress building completed next March, was announced today by the Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, who visited both performances accompanied by the local mayor, Francisco Bernabé.

The works of semipeatonalización the village, funded by the Autonomous Community of 800,000 euros, will improve the accessibility of traditional and active core of the town, shaped by a set of narrow but high commercial activity.

The action involves the cobbled paving of downtown streets, removal of architectural barriers, installation of new street furniture, landscaping, sidewalks and underground power lines, among other actions.

New Local Police station

The new facilities of the local police headquarters are located in the building of Progress, former town hall.

The police forces used the ground floor and basement, while the rest of the building will house various municipal services, such as the library, the Adult Education Center or the Magistrates Court and Civil Registration.

The area under the police is 600 square meters, divided into offices, meeting rooms, training room, locker rooms, fitness center and customer service area.

The autonomous region has contributed a total of 182,928 euros for this action, of which 95,678 euros related to the execution of the work was financed entirely by the regional administration, and the remaining $ 87,250 for the purchase of equipment.

Portman Avenue

Finally, the minister visited the site Portman Avenue, a project that provides for the comprehensive renewal of the asphalt pavement, construction of new sidewalks and the construction of a new roundabout at the junction of the current Lazareto, which will facilitate access this landscape and the local cemetery.

Work will also be finished late next month.

The budget for this project amounts to 300,000 euros, of which 265,000 are provided by the Presidential and Public Administration and the remaining 35,000 by the City.
