González Tovar reports the contribution of almost EUR 2 million of the state to promote culture and tourism in La Union (01/03/2010)

The Government of Spain will support the Cante de las Minas as it has done with the mine and the mine Vicenta Groups Paid

The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, has emphasized this morning the Executive's commitment chaired by José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero to the municipality of La Union as expressed in the investment of nearly 2 million euros to support and promote their culture and development tourism in flagship projects like mine Groups Vicenta, the Cante de las Minas, or Paid Mina.

These statements have been made on the occasion of the presentation of the Foundation Cante de las Minas, in which the Government of Spain is present through the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM), Ministry of Culture.

Tovar Gonzalez recalled that the Ministry of Culture allocated 128,700 euros last year with the Festival Nacional del Cante de las Minas, the largest amount of those made by the various authorities (municipality and autonomous region).

In addition, the state's economic cooperation has grown significantly over the past three years, rising in the period 2004-2009 to 672,000 euros.

State participation in the Sierra Mining Project

Moreover, the government delegate stressed the participation of the Government of Spain in the various plans of boosting tourism in the region, co-financed in equal parts with the autonomous regions and municipalities affected by each of those.

These have highlighted the Sierra Minera de La Unión and Cartagena, where the central government has invested 600,000 euros and which now is in the process of internal musealization Groups Vicenta mine and the adequacy of access to it.

The Sierra Mining has also been the target of one of the actions that the Government has fully funded in the municipality of La Union through the Local Investment Fund, 2009.

In particular, the Ministry of Planning Policy has provided 200,000 euros for the rehabilitation of the mine laundry Paid with what has been carried out cleaning, clearing, excavation, building walls, restoration of buildings and signage placement.

All of these activities, recalled González Tovar, were aimed at the enhancement of the site as a tourist attraction within the recovery program of historical heritage - mining in the environment of that mine Groups Vicenta.

Over 300,000 to cultural and tourism promotion in 2010

The Government delegate added that also in 2010, the State Fund for Employment and Local Sustainability is going to finance three projects of interest to tourist and cultural promotion of the Union for a total of 419,638 euros.

One is on the immediate and musealization of trail access Laundry Paid Mine, with a contribution of 118,638 euros.

They are also going to undertake the rehabilitation of municipal buildings for installation on the Museum integral Cante de las Minas with a state investment of 201,000 euros.

The third project is to work on improving the public market, home of The Song of the Mines, for which this year will be allocated 100,000 euros.
